“Friends are angels who lift our feet when our own wings have trouble remembering how to fly.”

As I'm relatively 'new' to this blogging world, I'm not too familiar with things such as "linking", but I am going to give it a shot! I am linking up to Maxabella loves with (hopefully) a slightly more positive blog than my life-update yesterday!

Today, I am grateful for friends. My support network here is simply amazing, and I am so thankful I am blessed with such wonderful people in my life. It is in troublesome times (like these) that true friends really come to the surface. I had become somewhat of a recluse since having my son, and hadn't made any real effort to continue friendships. Despite all of this, I have been overwhelmed with their hugs, tissues, support and a constant refilling of my wine glass! It has really restored my faith in humanity, and life in general really! Love is a funny, fickle thing at times, but it is so nice to know that so many people have your back... no matter what hurdles life throws your way. Friends are simply amazing and I love them all to bits.

I am also grateful for internet access. It has enabled me to tap into an entirely  different support network, mainly through facebook but also through email and even online forums. It is sometimes nice to just vent, and while I don't want any of my dirty laundry aired so publicly as a status update, I have found a new appreciation of 'private messaging' and 'facebook chat'! Bless your little cotton socks, you all know who you are!

Of course I am grateful for family as well. Both immediate and extended, I wouldn't be in the headspace I am currently without knowing my mother (in particular) is on standby for a counselling phone session! Included in this is my gorgeous son. He is my whole world, and I am so very grateful that he chose me; no matter what the relationship status is with his father. At the end of the day, he is my heart and soul - woe betide anyone who stands in his way of happiness!

So I am grateful for all of the above (and more). I am currently onto 'round 2' of the 7 Stages of Grief, and am relieved to report that it is getting less painful and passing by a lot quicker now. Phew! I was getting a bit worried there for a second as it had started to really interfere with my plans of total, blissful happiness!

On a slightly different note, I thought I would finish off by sharing the definition of grateful, as per Urban Dictionary because that site makes me chuckle.

It's not the greatest moment of my life so far, but through the heartache I can feel myself growing already! I might not completely understand this lesson quite yet, but (in the words of Gloria Gaynor) I WILL survive!
