"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." Martin Luther King, Jr.
My whole facebook world has been bombarded with celebration of Osama Bin Laden's death. While I do find all the Osama/Obama mix-ups amusing, I do find myself wondering about the state of the world today. We are living in a world where it is justifiable to kill thousands of human beings, and label it "justice" and "retribution".
I know the death penalty is not a new thing (an eye for an eye, and all that) but seriously, whatever happened to being the bigger person and taking the high road? Surely that makes us just as bad? Don't even get me started on the "sea burial" thing either. I know it was not feasible to keep him captive, for obvious reasons of retaliation. But..but... well words just fail me right now. I am disappointed that I even found myself giving Obama a virtual high 5. One man might be dead, but in the process thousands of innocents have lost their lives. How is that justifiable in any sense of the word? Let me get one thing clear: In no way shape or form do I condone any of Al-Qaeda's actions. But I also don't condone the way the world (no anti-American bashing here, we are all responsible for our own actions) handled the whole situation. It, quite frankly, just grinds my gears!

Anyway, just a brief rant about the state of our world today. I would like to follow it up with a few choice facebook links that have given me a good chuckle. Please don't be offended, I know some of them are in very bad taste but that is just my sense of humour! Here they are, in no particular order:
- The reindeer at Will & Kate's wedding LOL JK it was just Beatrice's hat
- Kate Middleton making it publicly known how much she loves Willy
- Pippa Middleton is single - Prince Harry likes this.
- Pippa's arse is like a JK Rowling book. You know Harry's going to be in it.
- Osama may be dead, but he's still blowing up my news feed.
So the majority of them may be Royal-Wedding-related, but I thought the last one was actually quite fitting too. My faith in the world may be somewhat challenged at times, but at least I can laugh about it too - right?
Over & Out.

I must apologise - it would appear that the quote I have attributed to MLK is actually incorrect, as he never spoke those words (http://www.theroot.com/buzz/fake-mlk-quote-goes-viral). Regardless of this, I still believe it a powerful and none-the-less true statement!
